Professor Grace Nkansa Asante, from the  Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has recently been elevated to the rank of full Professor of Economics.


This appointment marks a historic milestone as Prof. Nkansa Asante is the first woman in Ghana to receive this prestigious title, following the University Council's endorsement.


In her current role, she serves as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KNUST.


Prof. Nkansa Asante has an impressive tenure at KNUST, having led the Department of Economics from 2019 to 2022.


Her academic journey is further enriched by her position as a Visiting Lecturer at the Joint Facility for Electives, which is part of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).


With nearly two decades of experience in academia, Prof. Nkansa Asante's research interests lie in the realms of Economic Policy Analysis, Monetary Economics, and Financial Economics.


She is an alumna of KNUST, holding both a Bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Economics, and she also possesses a master’s degree from the University of Ghana Legon.


Prof. Nkansa Asante's contributions extend beyond the academic sphere; she is an ordained priest within the Anglican Communion and serves at the Archbishop Thomas Cranmer Anglican Church on the KNUST campus.


Before her distinguished service at KNUST, she made significant contributions as a research officer to the Governance Division of the African Development Bank in Abidjan and also held a role as a public administrator at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
