Eligibility Criteria for the Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship
To qualify for the Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time IT-related degree program at an accredited U.S. institution.
- Community college students pursuing an associate degree must seek admission to a full-time IT-related bachelor’s program for fall 2025 and aim to graduate by spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters.
- Four-year college/university students must be enrolled full-time in an IT-related bachelor’s program and plan to graduate by spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters starting in fall 2025.
- Students in an accelerated bachelor’s/master’s IT program must also be on track to graduate in spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters beginning in fall 2025.
- Graduate applicants must seek admission to a full-time IT-related master’s program for fall 2025 and plan to graduate by spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and throughout the program.
- Successful fellows must commit to a five-year service with the Foreign Service upon completing the program and meeting State Department requirements.
Application Process for the Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship
To apply for the Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship in the USA, candidates must submit their applications online by the specified deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
