In a tragic event on Tuesday evening, a student from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) lost their life due to a violent robbery near Boffourkrom, Sunyani West. The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. and resulted in injuries to multiple students, who have since been treated and released from local medical facilities.



The Sunyani police have detained an individual believed to be connected to the crime. The university’s Deputy Registrar for University Relations, Alfred Appiah, issued a statement confirming the incident and offering sympathies to the bereaved family.


The assault happened as students from the BSc Renewable Energy Engineering program, in their third and fourth years, were returning from an educational visit to the Bui Power Authority in Banda District. They were unexpectedly confronted by assailants.



The university administration has made an announcement to the public and parents, detailing the events of the attack and assuring that counseling support is being provided to those affected. They also committed to keeping the community updated on any new developments.


Additionally, the university has called on the surrounding communities to stay alert and report any unusual activities to law enforcement to ensure prompt action.
