Ghana and Africa's high jump star, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, has retained her title as African champion by winning the high jump event at the 2024 Continental Athletics Championships in Douala.

A clearance of 1.87 meters was sufficient for Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah to secure the gold medal and retain her champion status, having also won gold at the 2022 AAC in Mauritius.

Although it was not her best performance, as she holds a record of 1.97 meters which earned her a ticket to the 2024 Olympics, her 1.87-meter clearance was still good enough to win gold in Douala.

Guinea's Fatoumatou Balley and Nigeria's Adenisa Temitope won silver and bronze, respectively.

With this achievement, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah has become the second woman in Ghana Athletics to win back-to-back gold medals in field events at the continental level in recent times. The first was heptathlon queen Margaret Simpson, who dominated her event for over a decade.
