Prempeh College

Established in 1949 by the Asantehene, Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II, Prempeh College is a prestigious all-male boarding institution located in a suburb of Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

Initially founded to serve the educational needs of the Kumasi Metropolis and the Ashanti area, it holds the distinction of being the region's first secondary school exclusively for boys. Among its peers, Prempeh College is recognized as a top-tier Grade A school, alongside notable institutions such as Mfantsipim School, Wesley Girls' High School, and Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School.

Drawing inspiration from England's Eton College, Prempeh College has a rich history of academic excellence, including winning the National Science and Maths Quiz in its inaugural year of 1994 and again in 1996. The school further demonstrated its academic prowess by securing the title in the 2015 National Science and Maths Quiz, triumphing over Adisadel College and University Practice SHS, thus becoming three-time champions—a feat that made them the second school in Ghana to permanently retain the trophy. Additionally, Prempeh College has achieved victory in the National Robotics Inspired Science Education competition.

Dr. Joseph William deGraft Johnson Riverson, who serves as the executive director of Donor Relations and the Coordinator of the Trachoma Program at World Vision US, has dedicated his life to humanitarian efforts. Prof. E. Tsiri Agbenyega is the dean of the School of Medical Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Dr. Jacob Jordan Lamptey, a psychiatrist, runs the Valley View Clinic, established in 1987, which is unique in Ghana for its focus on psychiatry, a field with few practitioners in the country. Dr. Kweku Ghartey, a retinal surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital, has been recognized as one of "America's 100 Best Doctors" by U.S. News & World Report.
